The Bike Share Map
A line is the two docks a ride connected, not the route it took: Metro publishes two endpoints per ride and nothing in between, and a straight chord understates the distance actually ridden by a median 28%. The street distances and implied speeds are modeled shortest cyclable paths through OpenStreetMap, not observed tracks. 574,929 rides begin and end at the same dock, have no length and no direction, and are drawn as rings rather than deleted: the single most common thing anybody does on a Metro bike is one of them. 83,735 rides touch one of three bookkeeping entries in Metro's station list that are not places, and are not on the map. 160 station ids are really 78 docks, renumbered or run in parallel by Metro, and are merged here; three published station coordinates that put a dock kilometers from the place it is named after are overridden. The first and last years are half years.
