The Alcohol Map

One dot per permitted restaurant in the LA County Public Health inventory of 1 July 2026, colored by whether the premises holds an active on-sale license: California ABC types 41 and 47, the public-premises types, and the club, hotel and music-venue on-sale licenses. Off-sale is not counted, so a liquor store or a restaurant selling beer to go reads as no license here. The county rows are matched to ABC on normalized address and ZIP, then on address without a directional prefix, then to the nearest restaurant within 45 meters, because ABC and Public Health geocode separately. 1,104 ABC premises never resolved to a permitted restaurant and are not drawn: clubs, hotels, stadiums, theaters and churches are on-sale premises that are not permitted restaurants. A no is therefore an unmatched license rather than a proven dry room. Pasadena and Long Beach run their own health departments and are included from their own registers; Long Beach carries that city's own license flag rather than the ABC match. 45 facilities have no usable coordinates and are not drawn.
