Where the polls stand

Each circle is one poll's share for one candidate, placed on the last day the poll was in the field. Filled circles are independent polls; open circles were paid for by a campaign or a group backing a candidate. Undecided voters aren't shown.

Every poll

Newest first. Each line is the first question the poll asked, with undecided voters left undecided. Open a poll for its method, the other ways it asked the question, and its source.

Favorability

The share of voters with a favorable and an unfavorable view of each candidate, in the polls that asked.

About this page. It lists every public poll of the race that we could check against the pollster's own report or a named news report. "Independent" means a poll wasn't paid for by a campaign or by a group spending money in the race; it doesn't mean neutral, and a firm that works mostly for one party is marked (D) or (R). A side usually publishes the polls that help it. Polls that read voters descriptions of the candidates and asked again measure how well a campaign message works, not where the race stands, so those answers sit under the poll they came from.

We don't average the polls or give odds: with only a few independent polls and the rest paid for by one side, an average would mostly reflect which polls we chose to count. A margin of error applies to each candidate's share; the error on the gap between two candidates is close to twice as large. Sponsors' spending comes from Los Angeles City Ethics Commission filings through . After the election, the result will lead the table. Download these polls (CSV).
